Infant Specialist "Baby Nurse"

What is a Infant Specialist "Baby Nurse"?

A Baby Nurse is an experienced newborn and infant specialist who will come into your home, providing the physical and emotional support in those first few weeks home. Your Infant Specialist is there to assist the entire family with the everyday care of their new baby/babies. She will work with you to establish a sleeping and eating routine to fit your families needs. Your Infant Specialist is there to make sure everyone is getting the much needed rest they deserve. Your Infant Specialist's goal is to leave the family with everyone transitioned into their new role as parents.

Some of the responsibilities of the Infant Specialist include:

  • Feeding the baby/babies
  • Bathing baby/babies
  • Sterilizing, cleaning and preparing bottles
  • Initiating a schedule for sleeping, meals, nap and play-time
  • Laundering baby/babies clothing and linens
  • Keeping the nursery tidy
  • Changing linens

What is a typical schedule for an Infant Specialist "Baby Nurse"?

A Infant Specialist usually works full time, usually in 12 hour shifts, day or night or work 4-24 hour shifts, either 5 or 7 days a week, to help the family get the much needed rest that they deserve. Most families request they work overnight shifts so that the family can receive the rest that they deserve. The Infant Specialist will work with you to set a schedule for the baby/babies that will best fit your needs. When working 24 hour shifts, all of our Infant Specialist's request a 4 hour break during that 24 hour shift.

How long should I have a Infant Specialist "Baby Nurse"?

Having a Infant Specialist is a luxury. To have the full effect of a Infant Specialist, I recommend that you reserve them for a minimum of two weeks and up to 3 months and longer, depending on your needs. Families with preemies, twins, triplets, and quadruplets tend to have Infant Specialist's for a longer period of time. We can talk about your needs and find out what you feel will be the best situation.

What do I need to provide for an Infant Specialist "Baby Nurse"?

To make for a happy, and comfortable experience for your Infant Specialist, you should accommodate the following: preferably a private bedroom, radio, TV, Internet access and preferably a private bathroom, for 24 hour care. If that is not possible at least a bed, chair, table, lamp and space for your things either in the babies room or another space provided. You will also be expected to provide the food, and beverages, a car for any driving or running baby errands.

What is my goal as your Infant Specialist "Baby Nurse"?

Our focus as your baby nurse is to reassure you as new parents and make your transition to parenthood relaxed and enjoyable. Nobody will ever parent your child as well as you will, and I want to help get you off to a good start.
